Jennifer Coley Davis, Vice-President of Health Sciences, began working at Northeast in 2003 as the Program Director for Radiologic Technology. Jennifer received her B.S. degree from Baptist College of Health Sciences, where she completed the radiology technology and radiation therapy programs. She is nationally certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography and Radiation Therapy. In 2007, Jennifer received her Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Personnel from the University of Mississippi.

Melissa Morgan began came on board to Northeast in 2012 as a faculty member in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. She has over 24 years of nursing experience and has spent the last 9 years teaching here in the A.D.N. Program. Melissa received her Doctor of Nursing Practice and her Master of Nursing Education from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She also attended Delta State University and attained her MSN with the concentration in Family Practice; She currently is certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. During her time as a faculty member, Melissa has served on numerous college committees, as well as, in the Associate Degree Nursing Program.

Michael Barron, nursing instructor, began teaching at Northeast in the spring of 2022. Michael earned his Associate of Science degree in nursing from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 2009. He then earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Baptist Health Sciences University in 2015. Following that, he earned his Master of Science in Nursing with concentration in family nurse practitioner from Herzing University in 2017. He has spent most of his career working in the emergency department but has also spent time working on a medical surgical unit, hospice, and on a psychiatric unit. Michael and his wife Samantha have three children.

Beth Bowling, Associate Degree Nursing Instructor, began working at Northeast in 2014. Beth has 8 years of educational experience and has over 21 years of nursing experience. She has experience primarily in emergency medicine with over 19 years of experience in this area and is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN). She received her BSN from the Mississippi University for Women in 2000, her MSN in Nursing Education from the University of North Alabama in 2012, and her DNP in Educational Leadership in 2018. Beth has been the course coordinator for the NUR 2333 Leadership Course since the fall of 2016. Starting fall of 2021, she will be the assistant course coordinator for this class and assume the role of Clinical Course Coordinator for NUR 2339 as well. She has served on the Library Committee and Insurance Committee here at Northeast, while serving on multiple committees within the ADN program. She is the committee chair for the Standard IV committee in the ADN program. She is also a member of the National League for Nursing and the Emergency Nurses Association.

Jana obtained her associate degree in nursing from Northeast in 2004. She then earned her bachelor’s degree from Baptist College of Health Sciences in 2013. Jana received her master of science in nursing education from Chamberlain University in 2019. Jana has over 18 years of nursing experience and has worked in many roles including staff nursing, nursing supervisor, nurse manager, emergency operations planner, staff development and chief nursing officer. She is both a Basic Life Support & Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, American Nurses Association and the Mississippi Hospital Association. Jana also serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Mississippi Organization of Nurse Executives North Chapter; the group focuses on providing scholarships to nursing students in the North Mississippi area.

Dr. Beth Dawson is an Associate Degree Nursing Program Faculty member who began her career at Northeast in 2012. Dr. Dawson serves as the Course Coordinator for NUR1229- Care of the Family, the Assistant Course Coordinator for NUR2339- Nursing Care of the Adult 1, and is the Nurse Resource & Technology Coordinator for the program. She is also a faculty sponsor for the Alpha Delta Nu, Eta Iota Chapter, nursing honor society for the associate degree nursing students.
Dr. Dawson received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of North Alabama in 2002. In 2007, she earned her Masters of Nursing, with emphasis on Advance Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and gained national certification through the American Nurse Credential Center. She has been a nurse for over 20 years and has worked in various patient care areas to include the Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical unit, and Post-Anesthesia Care unit. She has also worked in rural health clinic and college heath as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In 2017, Dr. Dawson earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a Nursing Education Certificate from Samford University.
Dr. Dawson has been in nursing education for over 10 years. She first worked as an adjunct clinical faculty member at the University of North Alabama where she taught nursing clinical rotations for 2 years before beginning her career at Northeast. Dr. Dawson was awarded the Innovative Teaching award from the Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing in 2020.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama in 2003. She received her Master of Science in Nursing Teaching/Learning in 2014. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice with Educator Role program at Samford University. Carmen has previously served as a labor and delivery nurse, charge nurse, nurse manager, family practice nurse, and childbirth educator.

Brooke Gaillard, Associate Degree of Nursing Instructor, began working at Northeast in 2022. Brooke has over 11 years of experience as a registered nurse, with over a year in pediatrics and Medical-Surgical units, over three years in a family clinic, and the past six and a half years in outpatient surgery. Brooke received her master’s degree from the University of North Alabama in Florence with specialty track nursing education. Bachelor’s degree of nursing achieved in 2012 at the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus and received an ADN from NEMCC. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi. Brooke worked at Northeast in 2020 as clinical adjunct faculty with both freshman and sophomore ADN students. She is presently teaching courses on Fundamentals of Nursing and participating in the Apple Learning Academy course.

Heather Kirk, Associate Degree Nursing Instructor, began working at Northeast in January 2016. Heather has over 17 years’ experience in the field of nursing, primarily in med/surg, women’s health, hospice, and advanced practice. Heather received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama. She has her Master’s in Advanced Practice Nursing from the University of Alabama- Birmingham. She has her Doctorate in Advanced Nursing Practice with a post graduate certificate in nursing education from Samford University. During her time as a faculty member, Heather has taught Maternal Child Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing I, and Nursing Fundamentals. She has also served as a Health Science Simulation Instructor in the Simulation Laboratory. Heather has served on multiple committees for the college and is a committee member of the Instructional Technology Committee and Athletic Committee, as well as the faculty mentor for the Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing- Student Association (MOSA).

Kristy Church, RN, DNP, Associate Degree Nursing Instructor, began working at Northeast in 2009. Dr. Church started her nursing career in 1995 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. While at MRHC, she also worked as a Hospice nurse for four years, and a staff educator in the Education Department for nine years. Dr. Church obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and her Master of Science in Nursing Education degree from the University of North Alabama. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing Education from American Sentinel University in 2018. During her time as a faculty member, Dr. Church has taught on the Fundamentals of Nursing and the Nursing Care of the Adult courses. She presently coordinates the Fundamentals of Nursing Course in the fall semester and the Nursing Readiness Evaluation course in the spring semester. She has served on multiple committees for the ADN program and for the college. She has been a BLS instructor with the American Heart Association for 20 years. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN). In 2019, Dr. Church was a trainer for the Northeast Learning Academy, and in 2020, Dr. Church was a T.O.P. (Teaching Outstanding Performance) Award Recipient.

She has over 13 years of nursing experience, including experience in the specialty areas of Medical-Surgical, Intensive Care, and nursing education. During her time as a faculty member, Mindy has taught as an ADN faculty instructor and served as a Health Science Simulation instructor. Dr. Nick Alexander, Director of Dental Hygiene, began working at Northeast in 2002. Dr. Nick received his B.A. in Biological Sciences from the University of Mississippi. He received his D.M.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry. Before coming to Northeast, he had a private practice in Belmont, MS for 14 years. During his time as a faculty member, he has also served as an adjunct instructor of Anatomy and Physiology. Dr. Nick serves on multiple committees for the college. Dr. Nick enjoys hunting, hiking, and watching sports.

Carrie has over 21 years’ experience in Dental Hygiene, with 19 of those years working as a clinical hygienist. Carrie received her B.S from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Health Science. She received an A.A. S. in Dental Hygiene from Northeast. For the 21-22 school year, she serves as Vice President on the Presidential Advisory Committee for the Faculty Association, and served as the Health Science representative in 20-21. She received a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. During her time as a dental hygiene instructor, Tiffany has taught General and Oral Pathology, Dental Material, Ethics and Jurisprudence along with providing instruction to students in a clinical setting. Alana James began working full time at Northeast in 2021. She previously worked in an adjunct capacity in the dental hygiene clinic for several semesters. Alana received a Masters Health Science in 2016 and a Bachelors Dental Hygiene in 2014, both from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Alana is Northeast alumnus, and graduated from the NEMCC Dental Hygiene program in 2012. With over 10 years of experience as a clinical dental hygienist, Alana is excited to be back at Northeast teaching the next generation of Registered Dental Hygienists. Since joining the NEMCC Dental Hygiene faculty, Alana teaches Dental Radiology, Periodontology, and provides instruction to students in the NEMCC Dental Hygiene
clinic. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association, and the Mississippi Dental Hygienists Association and is serving as the sponsor of the Student American Dental Hygienists Association.
Alana enjoys traveling, hiking, making Shutterfly books, and spending time with her family. She, her husband Michael, and their two children are currently attempting to visit all 50 states and as many National Parks as possible.

Vickie Johnson Hopkins, Program Director for Medical Assisting Technology, began working at Northeast in 2010. Vickie has over 31 years’ experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) with 11 of those years served at Northeast. Vickie received her Masters and Bachelors of Health Sciences from the University of Mississippi. She received an A.A.S. degree from Northeast. Under Vickie’s guidance as program director, the Medical Assisting Technology Program has received two national continuing accreditation awards. During her time as a faculty member, she represented Medical Assisting Educators at the 2015 AAMA Certifying Board Standard Setting Study. Vickie has served on several committees for the college and was chosen to represent the college at the annual Lamplighters Leadership Conference in 2014. In 2016, Vickie was a TIP/TOP Award recipient.

Rosalyn Singleton, Medical Laboratory Technology Instructor, began working at Northeast in 2008. Rosalyn has over 30 years’ experience in Medical Technology, Blood Bank Management, and Health Sciences Education and Administration, with 13 of those years served at Northeast. Rosalyn received her Master’s degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Health Sciences. She earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Science and Medical Technology, both from the University of Mississippi. Rosalyn received an Associate of Arts degree in Medical Technology from Northeast. Rosalyn is a member of, and certified by, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) in Medical Technology. Rosalyn is also an active member of the regional American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).
During her time as a faculty member, Rosalyn has taught courses in the Medical Laboratory Technology program, Medical Lab for Medical Assistants, and Phlebotomy Technology. Rosalyn has served on multiple committees for the college and is member of the Safety Committee. In 2012, Rosalyn was a TIP/TOP Award recipient.

She has a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Alabama, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from The University of North Alabama and she received an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Northwest Shoals Community College. She has served and continues to serve on multiple committees for the college. She is a member of the Mississippi Practical Nursing Education Association, and the Mississippi Council of Directors of Practical Nursing Programs and served as the chair in 2020-2021.

Dr. Felicia Crump, Practical Nursing Instructor, began working at Northeast in 2013. Dr. Crump has been a registered nurse since 1999. She earned a Ph.D. in Nursing Education and Administration and MSN in Education with a concentration in Nursing Administration from William Carey University. She also holds a Master of Science in Health Education from Mississippi University for Women and BSN from the University of North Alabama. She received an A.A. and A.A.S., both in nursing, from Northeast. As a faculty member, Dr. Crump has taught Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical, Pharmacology, and Pediatric nursing courses. She has also supervised students in the skills lab and clinical facilities including long-term care and medical-surgical units. Dr. Crump’s experience includes education of nurses at the BSN, MSN, and DNP levels as well as Health Informatics. She previously served as Assistant Program Director of Practical Nursing and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Having served on multiple committees at Northeast, Dr. Crump is an Apple Teacher and was selected as a Learning Academy Trainer to facilitate use of the iPad related to education and implementation of technology use in the classroom for the Division of Health Sciences faculty.

Tracey Barron, Practical Nurse Instructor, began working at Northeast in 2018. Tracey graduated from Mississippi University for Women in 2007 with her BSN in Nursing. Tracey began her career as registered nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital- Golden Triangle. Tracey has experience in the intensive care unit, emergency room, pediatrics, medical/surgical, and maternity. In 2012, she began her career as a nursing educator at Baptist. During her career at Baptist, Tracey was chosen for the Daisy Award. Tracey is a certified AHA instructor for BLS, PEARS, ACLS, and PALS.

Mary Beth began her career as a registered nurse in 2012 at North Mississippi Medical Center. Mary Beth has experience in medical/surgical, gastrointestinal and genitourinary, critical care, surgery (pre, circulating, and post), pediatrics, labor and delivery, and women’s health.

Hope has over 13 years experience in the medical field being a registered Radiologic Technologist and registered Sonographer. Hope received her Masters in Higher Education from. University of Mississippi and her B.S. in Radiologic Sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, her A.A.S. in Sonography from Itawamba Community College, and her A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology from Northeast Mississippi Community College. She serves on the TIE and ATLAS committee at Northeast. Hope is an active member of the ARRT, ASRT, and ARDMS. In 2020, Hope was a TIP/TOP award recipient.

John Shelburne, Program Director/Instructor in Respiratory Care Technology Program, began working at Northeast in 2007 as the Clinical Director/Instructor in the program. In 2020, he became the Program Director. John has been a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) since 1999, he started working as a Certified Respiratory Therapist Technician (CRTT) in 1998, where he began his career in Arizona. In 2005 he and his wife moved to Southern California and he worked there for a year. In 2006, they moved to Corinth, Mississippi where he worked at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. In 2010, John received his M.A. degree from the University of Mississippi. In 2005, he received a B.S. in Applied Management from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. In 1999, he received an Occupational Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Pima Medical Institute in Mesa, AZ. John has served on several committees for the college and was one of several instructors to represent Northeast and attend the Lamplighter Conference in 2010 at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
